The Flying Fox was written in 1966 and 1961, and was originally serialized in the fiction magazine Martial Arts and History, with 8,000 words in each issue. Each paragraph of the serialized novel in the newspaper was about 1,000 to 1,400 words. Flying Fox Gaiden is written in paragraphs of 8,000 words each, so the way of writing is slightly different. I wrote a paragraph every ten days, and finished it in one overnight session, usually starting at twelve o'clock in the middle of the night and finishing early the next morning...
